What's in a Name?

Naming a baby is hard work!

Our little one's name was particularly difficult. In fact for the first few moments of her life we didn't know what we were going to call her. Chris knew her name right from the first time we stumbled upon it, but I needed a little convincing. I really did love the name right away and thought that it had the most amazing meaning, but I was a little hesitant because it was such a unique name and I was worried about how it would be received. It didn't take long after having her and seeing how beautiful and unique she really was (she had the most amazing head of dark hair) to agree that the name definitely suited her.

What I love most about her name is the many different meanings. Scholars say that it is the most difficult Hebrew word to translate. It is found in the book of Habakkuk 3 times and the book of Psalms 71 times. Most scholars believe that it is the word for musical interlude and believe it to mean "to pause and reflect." Some believe it is another word for "Amen", while others believe it means simply "forever".

As a musician Chris believes it to mean something far more beautiful than any of these other meanings. He thinks it means "there are no words". When you are feeling particular emotion whether it's happiness, sadness, praise, anxiousness, joy.....and you can not get out what you are feeling, all you can do is play your instrument as an extension of those emotions. "when words are not enough".

I really can't describe what it feels like to have my husband so proud of his little girls name......I am more in love with him every time I think of her name and how she came to have it:)
