I hate exercise. I really, really do.
It's just one of those things that gets put on the very bottom of my priority list. And somehow doesn't ever get done. Go figure. (teehee)
I know I need to do it, if only to feel better.
I have been majorly lacking in the energy department lately and want to adopt a more balanced lifestyle. That sound so earthy. I'm not sure if I can pull off earthy, but whatever.
I can attempt to be balanced. I can attempt to be earthy.
:)
Anyways a couple of weeks ago Chris started a new workout routine.
And he has been faithfully following it. He gets a gold star in my books!
We took his measurements a week in and just one week later he's already lost at least 1/2 an inch in all his measurements. (Way to go honey!)
As I was measuring him (and discovering how well he was doing) my competitive side rose to the surface. I can't let him have all the fun. No way!
So, naturally, I declared right then and there that I was going to start my own little workout routine and had him take my measurements too:
Abdomen, Calf, Thigh, Hips, Arm, Chest, and Neck
Now I have a starting place.
(And no I'm not brave enough to post what they actually are!)
Why am I sharing all this with you??
Well, for a couple different reasons.
1. It's an attempt to keep myself from giving up before I even get started. See, by writing it here, in my crazy mind it makes it real. I will have to force myself to get started.
I WILL HAVE TO DO IT!!
I just won't be able to sleep at night knowing I wrote about my plan and then didn't follow through.
2. I wanted to give an opportunity to anyone else wanting to shed a few extra pounds to join me.
I asked Chris what it was that was helping him stick to his routine.
His answer: 1. The fact that he is doing it with his buddies (translation: it's FUN)
AND 2. The fact that the gym is in their office building (translation: it's convenient)
Makes sense right?
Now, I could go out and get a gym membership with one of my friends, but I know myself- I won't use it. I need to have a workout routine at home. I need something that whenever I get the urge I don't have to get in the van and drive...especially with the winter months fast approaching. I can do it while the girls nap, or early in the morning, or after bedtime.... and as an added bonus I don't have to worry about baby-sitting, or planning my entire day around my workout. (it's convenient)
Now, what about the fun aspect? Well, that's where you come in. I wanted to open it up to see if anyone wanted to join me and be my "online" workout buddy.
It could be TONS OF FUN... just picture it: cheering each other on, complaining about how sore we are....and the best part: watching the weight just pour off :)
Now, I realize I'm not giving any time here... I plan on starting tomorrow, but hey last minute is how this mama rolls. If anyone wants to join me just post a comment, or send me an email and we'll figure out a fun way to keep one another encouraged.
:)

Time to loss the belly!
Chris recently purchased the Wii Fit. Has anyone ever tried it?
If not, check out their awesome website.
I have to admit I was pretty skeptical when Chris first brought it home, but I'm actually really impressed with it and super excited to follow the program.
Here's my quick overview:
The first step you will do is set up your profile. This will help keep you motivated and accountable, as it records every time you workout on a calendar and reminds you of where you need to be in order to reach the goal you set for yourself.
(You can even personalize your character to look just like you. Seriously! The resemblances are hilarious!)
It will take your weight, height, and age. Then it will calculate your BMI for you. Scary, I know, but at lease it gives you a starting point.
Next you select a trainer who will help encourage you and give you various fitness tips throughout your workout and most importantly will make sure you are doing the workouts properly.
They have interactive games and fitness workouts like yoga, strength, balance, and all kinds of fun aerobics . Each time you workout it, you can check your weight and BMI and it will track how much you gained and how close you are to reaching your goal.
As I'm typing this my husband is currently doing the "Super-Hula" workout. He is furiously swinging his hips as if he has a hula hoop around him. Seriously, it's quite the workout.
It's a lot of fun to watch too!
:)
I think what I love most about the Wii Fit is the fact that it's interactive, fun and it starts you off with short workouts (1-3 minutes long), so you don't get bored. As you workout more you can unlock new workouts and can add reps to your current ones.
Now, bear in mind this is only our first 'real' workout. We've gone through and had a little fun playing the different games, and trying out some of the training, but haven't done a full workout yet. I have no idea if it will actually work....I can't see any reason why it won't though!
Here's hopin'!
I'll keep you posted :)
