Change of plans...

I had so many wonderful plans for this Easter weekend.

I was going to attempt to bake hot cross buns on friday.
(My mom always made hot cross buns on good friday. And although I have tried several times without success, I was excited to give it another shot...)
On Saturday I thought it would be fun to go to the zoo and participate in the Easter egg hunt there :)
Then, we were going to go to church with Chris' parents on Sunday morning to worship and celebrate Grace together.
And finally, we were going to enjoy a yummy Easter dinner with my Dad and have fun at his annual Easter Egg Hunt.
All my plans were in place.
And it was shaping up to be the perfect family weekend.....

We didn't end up doing a single thing on that list, instead our sweet girls fought the flu.
We spent the weekend cleaning up puke.
Taking temperatures.
Giving baths.
Watching Disney movies.
Rinsing out the "puke bowl" (x 1000)
Washing pajamas, sheets and blankets (x 1000)
Changing dirty diapers (x 2000)
And getting little sleep.
Ugh!
BUT, we also spent our days cuddling our girls.
We prayed over them.
We held their little bodies while they slept exhausted in our arms.
And a teeny tiny part of me loved that.
So, although I truly wish our weekend had turned out differently, that part I wouldn't trade for the world.

Hope you all had a wonderful (and healthy) Easter!

  1. Oh Sara - so sorry to hear your little gals were sick. I hope they feel better soon, and that the "puke bowl" can go back into hiding.

  4. a pregnant friend recently said to me that she anticipates parenting is going to be a giant chore.
i replied she obviously isn't going into parenting with blinders on, BUT that though it feels like a chore much of the time, there are those moments each day when you experience parenthood as a gift. when that overwhelming since of being blessed to care for, love, and live in the love of these little people tugs at your heart strings.

you are a good mommy sara. you were where you were suppose to be this easter.

    hope everyone is feeling better.
