Mountain Getaway

For Christmas this year Chris' parents spoiled us with a weekend away.
Two glorious nights away while they watched our three {k-razy} children.
Aren't my in-loves saints?
We decided to take advantage of their generous gift this past weekend before we had to worry about bringing a newborn along with us :)

And it was nothing short of perfection.
Romantic strolls down main street at night.
Taking in the gorgeous lights and winter scene {even though it was FREEZING! brrrrrr!}
Quiet meals, where we could actually finish our conversations.
Window shopping hand in hand.
A movie for two snuggled in our hotel room.
Sleeping in. Ahhhhhhhhh.... the sleeping in.
And the best part:
Not having to share- having Chris all to myself. The un-distracted, fully-there versions of ourselves. The having one anothers undivided attention. Simply having the time to reconnect.

I've missed that.
Missed him.
It reminded me of the time before we had kids.
A time when I had Chris all to myself.
I took it for granted. Him. The quiet. The two of us lounging around all day on the weekends.
Now, I savor these moments. I lock them tightly into my heart, treasures that they are.
We don't get away often, just the two of us, but when we do it is such a gift.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to my sweet mama and papa-in-love. I am so humbled to be a part of such an amazing family.

And now, just weeks away from adding our fourth sweet joy to our family I feel like our marriage has been refreshed, renewed. And we are so ready to open our arms to our newest little blessing and all that comes with this new season in our family.

(well, except for maybe the lack of sleep that we know is looming around the corner....)

  3. I saw Donna & the girls yesterday (Gabriel was estatic) as I got to be in their class yesterday and she told me. You are very blessed my dear friend with your in laws!!!! I am so so glad for you guys that you got some alone time. Especially before everything changes again!

Kevin & I often discuss how we took our alone & leisure time forgranted pre kids. However, one day soon it will be an empty nest. It's very good you had a respite to recharge!

  6. Awwww Sara I'm SO happy you got a "baby moon" away- before your sweet baby girl arrives. Sometimes I think we live parallel lives and...sure enough...John and I just enjoyed time away as well, ha! I understand how you treasure the time together, alone. This new baby is just going to add joy unspeakable- but there's something about spending solitary time away with your hubby...especially before the dynamics of your family change.

Her arrival is coming so soon- I've been praying for you and thinking about you a lot. Do you know how much I wish I lived next door to you...could run over and snag 3 kiddos so you could nap? Mannnn ;0) That would be nice.

Just know that I'm praying and believing God's BEST for you. 2011 is going to be your most blessed year to date. I know it! You are such a light, Sara and a Prov 31 woman.
