This year I have been participating in the Living Proof Ministries blog scripture memory verse challenge. Yikes- that was a mouthful :) Basically we are memorizing a scripture on the 1st and 15th of every month. I have never been very good at memorization. So, this challenge has really been something I've had to work at. Yet I'm finding myself so encouraged by these scriptures. The more I'm saying them, the more they become engraved on my heart. I have found myself in situations where all of a sudden one of my memorized scriptures pops in my head and immediately speaks to whatever I'm facing!
Are you like me and sometimes wonder if your prayers are even heard? There are times when I feel like rather than having a conversation with God it is more like a monologue- me talking and silence on the other end.
Now, I know that He is listening.... and sincerely wanting to talk with me. Remember: He desires relationship and intimacy!
It wouldn't make sense for him to not want to respond. What kind of relationship would it be if He never answered back?
I'm learning that sometimes it is just my talking too much and forgetting to listen that gets in the way.
He really does always answer, just now always in how or when I want him to. There are times He answers in ways that I just don't expect. Hind sight is certainly 20/20 when it comes to my prayer life. Sometimes I don't even know that He is answering until I can look back and say "Oh ya, there He was, this whole time!"
While searching for my verse to memorize this time around I came across this one and knew that it is a verse that I must engrave on my heart. The fact of the matter is I don't always believe it. I want to. But sometimes I struggle with how I wait.....
'But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God, my Savior; My God will hear me.'
Micah 7:7
NIV
Wow.... I watch in hope for the Lord.
Wow.... I wait for God
Wow.... My God will hear me.
If only I could believe this all the time. Yes, I've come a long way in my trust, but I suppose as I find my walk with God in a winter season right now, I sometimes need reminding that he will ALWAYS hear me. That as I wait on Him, I can watch in HOPE (not in frustration, not in wondering) but in the HOPE that He will hear me.
And so, I've determined to convince my soul: 'But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God, my Savior; My God will hear me.'
What about you? Do you struggle with this concept too? Have you ever felt like your prayers have gone unanswered?

i love that you have "determined" to have confidence in the scripture you are memorizing.
ReplyDeletemay God continue to show himself to you :-)
I have heard Beth Moore say that putting your hope in the Lord is more than putting your hope in that "thing" that you're praying for is answered. It's putting your hope in the Lord's sovereignty and that He works it out His way for the good of everyone...no matter what that means. Now THAT is tough to do!
ReplyDeleteI gave you an award over at my blog :)
