LPM Memory Verse #12

This year I have been participating in the Living Proof Ministries blog scripture memory verse challenge. Yikes- that was a mouthful :) Basically we are memorizing a scripture on the 1st and 15th of every month. I have never been very good at memorization. So, this challenge has really been something I've had to work at. Yet I'm finding myself so encouraged by these scriptures. The more I'm saying them, the more they become engraved on my heart. I have found myself in situations where all of a sudden one of my memorized scriptures pops in my head and immediately speaks to whatever I'm facing!

Lately God has really been speaking to me through music. The other day while driving to the library with the kids, this song came on. I hadn't heard it a very long time but happily (and loudly) began to sing along.

(sorry for the blurry image, it was the best one I could find)

As I sang, I realized that God was trying to get through to me. He was reminding me of his desire to use me.

To use you.

The people in this song: Moses, David, Mary were just that- people. Normal, everyday people. Who were simply chosen by God to do some pretty amazing things. And that got me thinking. Aren't we all chosen? Yes!

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1Peter2:9

God wants to use us to touch the hearts of others.
I love the line in this song "through you I will show them I AM."
It's just his nature, to include us. When I think back to times in my life when I needed him, I can almost always see a way in which he used someone. It was through them that I was shown the I AM.

He wants to use me, even if I think it's something small like calling up a friend who's been on my heart, or doing some baking for someone, or simply in the way that I live my life. God wants to use me to show others who He is.
It is in His strength and in His grace that I am able to do the things He asks of me.

Now sometimes He asks me to do something far more scary, like speak the message at our church (which I did a couple of weeks ago and nearly died of a heart attack.) This is when I tend to act like Moses and pull out all the excuses. I need to remember that He is the I AM and that though I am weak He is strong.

Cause there's a bigger picture you can't see
You don't have to change the world, just trust in Me
'Cause I am your creator, I am working out my plan
And through you I will show them, I Am
(I Am, by Ginny Owens)

I am becoming more aware of the fact that God really does see the bigger picture, even when I can barely see two feet in front of me. As I try to walk through the fogginess of circumstances, He really can be trusted. He is working out HIS plan. He is wanting to use me, to use you to show the world just who He is.

I am thankful for His strength, for His grace, and for His rest.
So this week I choose this as my scripture:

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
2 Corinthians 12:9

So, anyone else weak out there?
His grace is sufficient for YOU, for his power is made perfect in weakness!

  1. I've been learning the truth of that verse in my own life. Thank you for sharing your heart.

  2. Ginny Owens is one of my favorite artists! I love when God uses music to speak to our hearts.

And great job in listening (even when that means getting up and speaking - YIKES, that would terrify me too!!)

  3. I've been learning the truth of that verse in my own life. Thank you for sharing your heart.

Thanks so much for leaving your comments. I absolutely love hearing from you :)
