Last day of school {and a little improv}

Today was our son's last day of school.
Yippeeeeeee!
Summer has officially started!
Was it just me, or did this year fly by like crazy fast?

Our boy is very excited that next year he will be in....

Yikes, how did that happen? Wasn't it just yesterday that I was crying because my baby was going into preschool? Awww.... ok, now I'm starting to tear up again.
I am so over the moon in love with this kid. He is hilarious and knows just how to melt this mama's heart. Plus, he'll still cuddle with me and let me tickle his back, so I don't really have much to complain about.

Oh sweet boy,

Daddy and I are so proud of you! We can hardly believe how big you are. You have grown so much in the last year, it is amazing to hear you read and watch you write with such passion and creativity. We hope that you will always find joy in your learning.

Love you always,
Mommy & Daddy

And now for a fun little story...

This morning was our son's final school assembly. I was running a little late so when we got there all the seats were taken and we had to stand in the back. {whew. as it turns out this was actually a good thing!}

About halfway through the assembly I smelt something yucky. I looked down at my youngest and asked her if she had a dirty diaper. She smiled and I knew. But there were other kids around so I decided to do a quick check to be sure. And what do I see as I pull back her skirt?
Not only is she indeed dirty, but- SHE.IS.NOT.WEARING.A.DIAPER!!!!
What?!?! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

I must have completely zoned out this morning and forgotten to put one on her. Luckily the skirt she was wearing had little shorts built in, or we might have had quite the mess on our hands. Eww. Eww. Eww!
Anyways, I did what any of you would do. I nonchalantly {while internally freaking out} picked her up, walked her out of the gym, down the hall, out the door and into the van to get her cleaned up.
Thank the good Lord that I had wipes and a spare diaper in the van. Once I had her all cleaned up I realized that I didn't have a change of clothes for her. Ugh.
So I searched the van and all I could find was a dirty pair of her big brother's short from yesterday's lake day with his class. Thankfully he had worn his bathing suit home and left his shorts in the van.
See, I knew there was a reason for being too lazy to clean out the van yesterday!

Good times.

Don't worry though, she totally rocked it :)

When we came back in, a few of the other moms and I had a good laugh about the whole thing.
Because mamas know *&%$ happens!
;)

  6. That's a GREAT story! The only one that I have that comes close is when my second was still in diapers -CLOTH DIAPERS!- at less than a year old. My husband sent him out with me to watch my cousin's football game (at McMahon -or however you spell that- Stadium there in Calgary). I had him on my front in a baby carrier when I felt... wet. My dear hubby had changed his diaper but not put a cover on! While I did have a change of clothes for the baby, I did NOT have one for me.

    We had a little chat when I got home. ;)
