Ten on Tuesday

1. Oh, the weather outside is frightful.....brrrrrrrrr! We received our first HUGE dump of snow last night (10-20 cms). We're expecting a high of -8C (that's 17.6F for all you Americans) Eeeks. Winter is officially here.

I took that picture this morning looking outside our front door. On the bright side, we are listening to Christmas music and the snow just makes it that much better!

2. I am VERY thankful that I had enough foresight to do a big grocery shopping trip yesterday. Whew.

3. My little sis got hitched on Saturday! It was a beautiful day and I am so happy for her and her new hubby :) Their wedding was just perfect. Here's a sneak peek at some amazing pictures from her photographer-Mark. Isn't she just stunning?!

4. I officially have 100 days left until babe's due date! WooHoo! All three kids were 3 weeks early though... so maybe I only have 80 or so days left? I'd be ok with that. Although I am preparing myself for the possibility that this little one may just be a monkey and end up being a week overdue. But let's all pray that that doesn't happen, k?

5. We are still undecided on baby names. Oh the pressure...we have a few possibilities, but I'm really bad at committing. Our youngest was nameless for over an hour in the hospital. Poor thing.

6. My Christmas list is looking pretty sad. I have only crossed off one thing. (Christmas PJs for everyone.) I really need to get cracking in the next couple weeks to get everything done by December. How are you doing with your list?

7. I am so excited to be taking part in my very first Christmas cookie exchange. I'm having a really hard time deciding what type of cookie to bake though. We are making a dozen cookies for each lady participating, and tomorrow we'll hear the official number of people, but so far I'll be needing to make at least 12 dozen (of the same type) of cookies.
Gingersnaps, shortbread, toffee crackle, peppermint pinwheels, molasses and sugar cookies are all taken.... Any suggestions? Pretty please?!

8. I am also still planning on doing our Christmas Cookie Countdown (more on that in another post soon!) with the kids again this year. Hopefully my willpower will kick in and I'll be able to resist eating all this baking before we can deliver it.

9. Donald Miller's book 'A Million Miles In a Thousand Years' is currently wrecking me. It is so good.... you need to read it too. I promise you won't be disappointed.

10. Ummm. I don't really have anything else to say... my brain is tired. I do have a (sorta lame) excuse. I've officially entered the fun "I can't sleep at night" stage of pregnancy. Good times.

Happy Tuesday Everyone :)

  1. Those pictures are AMAZING!!! And you look fabulous!! I had to really look to see if that was you - in many shots you can't even tell you're pregnant! (and who took the shots you were in?) Sara, you have TALENT!!

That book Children can you hear me?, where do you order it? I looked on Christian book.com & they don't sell it....

As for cookie exchange...I'm also not committed yet; but I am waiting for everyone's choices. I cannot wait for it!!

    See you soon!

  2. The wedding pics are fab, your sister is gorgeous, so are you (and you fit the dress - YEAH!) and S has GOT to be the cutest flower girl ever. EVER!

I too am undecided on what cookies to bring...was thinking of going outside the box and doing macaroons or something

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping :( 'Fraid I don't have any solutions either (I suffered terrible insomnia with K)

Christmas list - hrm. Chipping away at it bit by bit, but still have so much to do....

    wanna play soon?

  3. my family got dumped on in mn about 10 inches and i am jealous. i don't miss the cold but i sure do miss the beauty of the snow especially around the holidays.

the wedding pictures are amazing. your sister was a stunning bride and the backdrop for the photos were awesome. you looked beautiful... i agree can't even tell you are pregnant.

christmas cookies.... do short stops caramel meltaways. they are my kids favorites and so easy especially if you have to make 12 dozen.

i am all done shopping for the kids and their gifts are all wrapped. i just need to decide what to do for teacher gifts since we usually make them and get supplies organized.

i am sorry you are not getting any sleep. i had horrible insomnia with mauryn. my dr okayed some over the counter sleep meds... i think it was unisom but check with your dr. i didn't use it often but when i was totally exhausted i would take it to get at least one good night every once in a while.

you have the cutest pregnant belly :o)

  5. I'm with you on my Christmas list... eek! Much to do!!

Glad you could stay home in the cozy warmth rather than go out in the snow.

as for cookies -- mint oreo cookie crunch is my recommendation! So easy to make (no bake) and the recipe makes quite a few cookies; enough to give away and enjoy some!!

  8. Cookie suggestion - the Skor/Breton cookies that you made in your Christmas Cookie Countdown last year. That one still tops the list of favorite cookies at my house since I made your recipe.

  9. I love your 10 on Tuesdays.

We too got dumped on here in MN on Saturday. It was pretty and we started the Christmas music and I love it. But I went to Target today and it was freezing outside. I hate that part of it.

I have never done a cookie exchange. But I would love to some day. My fav Christmas cookies (although they aren't really cookies) are two Tollhouse crackers with peanut butter in between dipped in chocolate almond bark. YUM.

I really really want to read that Donald Miller book. Thanks for the reminder. Or maybe it would be something good to ask for for Christmas? A little cheaper than the D700 that I want? ;-)

And wow! Your sister is GORG! And those pics are AMAZING!

    Have a wonderful week, friend!

  10. Oh, my daughter would be so jealous of your weather. We have snow in the forecast for this weekend, but who knows?

Your picture is absolutely adorable. I love that middle-of-pregnancy-cute stage. It's harder to feel cute when you get big ;)

  11. EEEEEEK your baby bump is SoOo stinkin cute! Do you know how bad I want to catch a flight and do some newborn photos for her? Ugh whyYyy do you have to live so far way, my friend?!

Thank you so very much for that link for the photography fun. I watched the last part of it and tried to purchase it too but they were only selling it at full price so I was going to see if they'd honor the discounted price by emailing them...we'll see- I REALLY want to watch it all. Sounds like a great resource.

Your weather and cookie party sound delightful and sure beat our warm, tank top weather :) If ever you need to thaw out Sara, head south! You're always welcome!

Loved reading up on 'ya and I continue to pray for a healthy, blessed pregnancy. Make sure and get your rest in the upcoming weeks ;)
