'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...'
Yesterday we spent the day decorating the house for Christmas. Chris hung the outdoor lights and put up the tree, while I decorated the rest of the house with the kids.
Then we all decorated the tree together. Now you may be thinking- 'Isn't it a little early to be decorating for Christmas?'
To that I say- NOPE!!
A few years back Chris suggested getting an artificial tree. An artificial tree?!?! Was he crazy??
One of my favorite memories as a kid was going out as a family to pick our Christmas tree and cut it down ourselves. My mom would pack hot chocolate and off we'd go piled into the old suburban to find that perfect tree.
I wanted to carry this tradition on with our kids.
That year, however, Chris pointed out that because our son had severe allergies and asthma perhaps an artificial tree was the best choice for our family. (Chris and his brother were the same way growing up- so they always had an artificial tree).
Yes, he was right. Our son's health was certainly more important than going out to pick out a real tree.
So in light of that, I offered up a compromise.
We would set up the artificial one in the middle of November so that we could celebrate longer. This, I said, would be our new family tradition.
(This year we're even a little late in getting it done!) So there you have it. If I could- I think I'd set it up even earlier.....I love, love, LOVE Christmas.
Can you tell??
